cloudy days

It has been one cloudy week here in Springfield! Personally, I love the cloudy days. They inspire me, make me feel cozy, and it's as if the world has slowed down for a moment. Most of all, it makes me want to be in a deer stand with my Daddy waiting for my next target! Those are the moments I live for.

I love fur! I'm currently searching for a faux fur coat. I know some people think they can't pull off fur but YOU CAN! I don't think fur is only made for some. God made fur for all! It's not like nude leggings, which in that case, NO ONE should ever try, ha!

I don't know if you noticed but I added a little detail to my boots. My husband and I made leather journal covers last night and I decided it was only right to use the left overs for some boot detail. I just took a strand of leather and wrapped it around the boot three times and tied it! Easy peasy! I was happy with the outcome :)

Lastly, I was so excited my cousins came into town this weekend! We all went to church together, ate lunch, and went to the coolest store ever, Bass Pro! Drake was attached to Josh's hip the whole time and I'm pretty sure he was ok with it :) I love that little man!

title, title, title...

So, a couple weeks ago I went to visit family in Shreveport, Louisiana and while we were there we took a quick trip down to Monroe, Louisiana to visit my all time favorite store, Duck and Dressing. It was so fun to finally get to see the store in person. The decor is gorgeous and the atmosphere's inspiration level is out of this world. From the original brick walls and wood floors to the subtle touch of swamp moss at the jewelry counter; it was everything this rustic chic girl is looking for. Rebecca Robertson knows the way to my heart!

This dress is one of the items I got while I was there. It's sleeveless, rustic red, flowy, and is great for summer or fall (probably even winter since here in Texas it doesn't really get THAT cold). This color is so great: it makes me think happy thoughts. I chose to wear it with ankle boots but I think it would go great with some pumps or even my Ariats!

In this world, it's important to be "somebody". We strive for the perfect title whether that be at the work place, home, church, even in our social groups. We exhaust ourselves emotionally, spiritually, and even physically to accomplish what we think we have to so we will matter. I've been thinking about this a lot lately because right now as I'm currently in transition with jobs. I find myself finding my worth in a title. I think less of myself because I'm not Sarah DeForest, CEO of Life and All Things Perfect, LLC. The Lord spoke to my heart and let me know that that kind of thinking is not of Him and it's not even close to how He sees me. My worth and identity is in Him and that's all I need. He is all I need. Lately I have been seeking after the title and the accomplishment more than seeking the creator and giver of the title. Without Him the titles and the accomplishments mean nothing. He cares about my relationship with Him more than what I accomplish for Him. Contentment comes from knowing that you need nothing else beside the Lord.

I'm not the best at getting dressed up but I figured Mother's Day would be a good day to get all fancied up! This dress and belt from Francesca's was the perfect fit. It's simple, it's pretty, but most importantly it's comfortable. I despise being dressed up and uncomfortable. But as my Momma always said, "beauty is pain". So over the years I've suffered through for an amazing pain of heels or that LBD that you can barely breathe in. You know you've done it! Let's face it, it was usually worth it in the end. And it shows our true womanhood. Men couldn't do it, that's for sure.

Its going to be a great week! I look forward to what's ahead...

casual sunday

This past Sunday was cold and rainy so I decided to dress more casual for church. I mean, who likes to be cold and damp wearing a skirt and pumps? Casual is probably my favorite dress of choice. Dressing up is fun but not all the time. I love this outfit because I love camel and black together. I think it's rustic looking. Definitely a current "must wear" of mine. I fully believe the Lord created black and camel to compliment each other. Am I the only one?

On a mushier note, I'm so glad my husband is home. I didn't realize how much I missed him. He is kind and patient and loving. He makes me better. I need him today, tomorrow, and always.

Oh and my beautiful brother, Joey, wanted to get a quick snap with me! He is the definition of modern style. Plus, we matched. I love him!

euro inspiration

I love this outfit. My husband just got back from Europe yesterday and brought me a few goodies (the bag and sweatshirt)! I was so happy with what he got me but I was more excited he was home. Life gets lonely when your best friend is gone. Lucky for me, Stanley was great company!
